How Can Hearing Loss Due To Nerve Damage Be Improved?

Hi, my question is.. when I was born I had nerve damage so my hearing is not very good, I am 50 years old, is there anything that can be done to improve my hearing? I have been to a couple of different doctor s and it seems that not even a hearing aide can help. The last time I went for my second opinion was 12 years ago. What can you tell me?

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

In some persons, there is hearing loss at birth only. This is due to damage to nerve or some developmental deformity. This hearing loss needs to be identified at the earliest age so the the child could be rehabilitated properly. In your case, your only help could be hearing aid. Try to get some multi channel, digital hearing aid so that your social hearing is well compensated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
