How Can Fungal Infection In The Abdominal Folds Be Treated?

I had a gastric bypass 12 years ago and have the extra skin on my lower abd. Haven’t had a fungal infection in 3 years and the dr always prescribed an aoitment which worked. I have been using it for 3 Days and it’s spreading. I have an appoint at 8 am tomorrow. It doesn’t itch or smell like usual. Does it mean it’s not an anti fungal infection???

Hello,

Brief Answer: You may have another type of organism that caused this infection.
Explanation: My opinion is that fungal infection is a bit of concern. Skin folds, bad hygiene, and humidity are all precipitating factors. If this time anti-fungal treatment doesn’t work, it may be some other fungal or bacterial infection that may need another course of treatment.

I suggest my patients the following: Swap of skin areas that are affected by culture and treat accordingly. The information provided by you is not sufficient to provide a good opinion. If someone comes to me with this condition I would ask them about other medical conditions that may aggravate this infection such as diabetes.

Conclusion: I suggest you check with your physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahmmad Gamal
