Hello doctor, I am 29 years married woman weighing 70kgs, been 2mths since diagonised with hypothyroid. My t3 &t4 were normal but tsh was 10,so the docter prescribed me thyronorm of 25 mg. I want to plan for the baby now. How long will it take the tsh level to be normal? How much tsh level is good for planning a baby.

How Can Elevated TSH Levels Be Treated?
Hello, As your TSH level is 10, the dose of Thyronorm is not sufficient especially if you are thinking of becoming pregnant. So the dose should be 50 mcg and your TSH level should be less than 2.5 if you want to plan for a baby. Take 50 mcg for two months then you can get back to me or consult your doctor. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
