How Can Dizziness And Excessive Sweating Be Treated?

I am 52 and last night I was fine and going to go walk the dog and as I was headed out the door I became instantly EXTREMELY dizziness to the point of barely able to get back in the house. I was instantly sweating profusely and felt like I may be sick or move my bowels. When I made it onto my bed, I literally felt like I couldn t move for approx. 1 1/2 hours and just continued to drip sweat. I should say not paralized, but life-less and couldn t even make myself have the energy to call out for help. I eventually fell asleep and am totally fine today. I have never felt anything like this before. I really thought I may be having a heart attack. Your advice please. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Patient,

In my daily routine I have attended some cases with similar symptoms like yours.
1. The first thing that I do to them is measure the blood glucose level. You have to do this blood laboratory analyse in the morning when you have not eaten yet.
2. The count of HbA1c (glycated haemoglobin) is the second step, used to diagnose for Diabet.

These two laboratory exams assure me about the condition of glucose in the blood of the patient. Dizziness and excessive sweating, usually show a decreased blood sugar level, which needs to be treated afterwards.

3. Meanwhile for a weak, 3 times a day you have to measure your blood pressure. A situation of hypertension needs to be diagnosed if it is present. There are some cardiac disease releated with hypertension, that at your age cause these symptoms.

After these 3 steps, after a week the patient comes back in my office to make the diagnose and procede with the treatment.

All the best,
Dr. Eni
