How Can Diverticulitis Be Treated While Suffering From Peripheral Neuropathy?

I have just been diagnosed with diverticulitis. The prescription I have been given is Levaquin and flagyl. I cannot take Cipro and fragyl together since the last time it caused me to get CDiff. I also have periphial neuropathy and I just noticed a major side affect of Levaquin in perphial neurapathy. I was told the only other thing for me to do would be to go thru the emergency room for admittance and get intravenous antibiotics. I am at a loss as to what to do. my email address is YYYY@YYYY

Hi,
Thanks for your question.
I do understand your pain and discomfort.
As per your history is concerned please follow:-As per your question my answer is [YES]
1)Take B-12 injection 4 times weekly up to one month, then once a month as maintenance which will clear peripheral neuropathy.
2)For mild diverticulitis we recommend conservative treatment plan and for severe cases surgical treatment is good.
3)Check all reports a)STOOL & URINE {RE/ME}
b)LIVER FUNCTION TEST
c)CT scan to guard the treatment procedure in detail
4)For uncomplicated cases we recommend -a)ANTIBIOTICS[AB-CEF-200mg full course for 10 days ]
b)Liquid diet plan and once heals start with solid
c)For pain take only [paracetamol]
d)Take probiotics [lactobacillus caps twice a day]
5)For all complicated cases we recommend -IV antibiotics and Surgical treatment
6)surgical treatment is done in two types like a) Primary bowel resection where diseased part is cut and other part joined, b)Bowel resection with colostomy and it is done for severe grade cases where a temporary bypass is made to collect waste material and after healing it is joined again .You need regular follow up after surgical treatments and do colonoscopy every 6 weeks interval up to one year.
7)Finally i want to say that drink plenty of fluid,do regular exercise and take 30 gm natural fiber every day in diet if not available you can take a fiber suppliment available in drug store[Cremaffin FS or CREMALAX]
I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me.
Wishing you all the best.
Thanks
