How Can Cough And High Fever In A Child Be Treated?

My 5 yr old started coughin. For first 3 days we used ambrodril s. (5ml*thrice) It never improved but she started getting fever from day 3. We added crocin ds 5ml (4times) and switched ambrodril s with cherry cof(5ml thrice) Day 3 and day 4, the fever remained from 99 to 100.6 but on day 5 and 6(today)it is reaching up to 102.2 as well and usually staying around 100.5 to 101.5. Is it respiratory tract infection? We have started giving her Moxclav ds ( amoxycillin and clavulanate oral suspension ip 5.1g/30ml) 5ml from night of day5; twice a day, with crocin ds (6ml) on fever and bronzete ls for continuous cough. Last night was her first dose of anti biotic but she still was had fever through out. It subsided around 9:30 am today (day 6). So far she has taken 2 doses of antibiotic. Plz advise if above is appropriate

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what your child had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, the antibiotics may need to.be reviewed if after two more doses the fever persisted and meanwhile analgesics like acetaminophen syrup or ibuprofen can be continued as well as decongestant and anti histamines like cetrizine. Steam inhalations can also be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
