How Can Constipation And Nausea After An Abdominal Bypass Surgery Be Treated?

.had abdominal bypass surgery 4 weeks ago. Having problem with constipation and nausea.. Have tried laxitives enama and mag citrate on separate days. Very little relief. Stomach gurgling and passing gas. Help. Getting worried.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Diet would be main reason for this, in fact it may not be the constipation but it seems to be due to less food intake, I would advise you to eat properly have more fiber containing diet, green leafy vegetables, have more drinking water, else the surgery is nothing to take with this, of course some time some drugs may induced the constipation but is seems to be very less likely in your case, but only possibility is less food intake or must be taking liquid or semi liquid diet, in my opinion no need to try any medicine but you could discuss this with your surgeon.
