Hello, Thanks for the query. I have gone through your short description and I can understand your concerns. Paronychia is a difficult condition for both patient and doctor. It takes too long for complete cure. I suggest you to do the following as a part of initial management:- (1)-Apply topical antifungals like clotrimazole or tolnaftate twice a day. (2)-You can cotton dipped in hydrogen peroxide solution to remove dirt and debris from the infected nail. (3)- Oral antifungal like fluconazole have to be taken on a once weekly dose for six weeks. (4)-Check your blood sugar level to rule out diabetes. Response to therapy is slower in diabetic people. If paronychia does not resolve despite medical efforts, minor surgical intervention may be indicated. incision and drainage and debridement may be needed depending on the severity of the disease.
