How Can Chronic Cough And Nasal Congestion In An Infant Be Treated?

Hello doc, my baby is 10 mos old. She is having bad cough, stuffy nose and fever for 5 days now. Doctor gave her fenistil, acetaminophen, and paracetamol suppository. Her fever goes up and down and would reach 39-40℃. I told the doctor that my baby might have caught the cough from my husband as he is coughing too. So is fenistil work for her cough? As I know it s for allergies only. Please help.

Hi madam,
Welcome to health care magic,

I can certainly understand your concern towards your infant,s problem, as she was given treatment for fever, cough , as cough could be due to viral infection or allergy, but I can suggest that if fever is still persisting after 5 days of this treatment, you must start some antibiotic syrup like amoxclav and get the blood investigations which are TC,DC ESR, WIDAL, MALARIA, SPUTUM FOR AFB, (as infants father has history of cough), dengue and urine routine,to rule out any possible pathology.

As it is better to act immediately and take necessary steps in infants,so please get back to me with the above reports,
hope this information would help you
please post further questions if any,I will always be available to take up follow up questions
thank you
