Hello
Thank you for using HCM for your questions!

To answer your question, I would need to know, first of all, what is the usual food regime you give to your baby? I am asking this because many mothers turn to ready-made baby food. If this is the case, than you should change the diet of your baby and turn to homemade foods: liquid soups, plenty of vegetables (chopped or grinded to make it suitable for the baby to swallow it, etc.) and of course she needs to consume water. From what you state, your baby's stool is very hard. To me this is not a problem of the bowels or digestive system, but rather of the way the baby is being fed. On the other hand, we do not recommend taking laxative for a long time because it impairs the normal periodic movement of colon and makes it lazy. Therefore, to my opinion and judging from the information you provided us, I think that you need to feed your baby with home made health food, which contains a lot of liquids. Your baby will be much happier, I think. Also, if you still give your baby formula milk then stop it, because it enhances constipation. The change in stool movement and consistency should be visible 1-3 days after the new feeding regime. But, if constipation continues (which I doubt) then you will need to see a pediatrician for further advice. I hope that I have helped to answer your question. Best!

Take Care!
