How Can Chest Congestion Be Treated?

I have been fighting a fever on and off for 6 days now. I also have severe head and chest congestion. I loose my breath at the smallest action. I have been taking Alkaseltzer plus and Tylenol to fight this. The fevers come and go, but the congestion is not easing up.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Should drink plenty of fluids especially water, tea.

Should apply vapour rub on your chest and back at bedtime. Should apply nasal decongestant spray you find over the counter

Take antihistamine at night. Raise your head from shoulders when laying down.

Aerosol therapy can also help. Take mucolytic syrup twice daily.

If still no improvement in a couple of days should consult further with your physician as bronchitis or pneumonia should rule out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
