How Can Burning Sensation And Itching On The Scalp Be Treated?

Hi. I ve just dyed my hair a day ago. Today my scalp is burning, itching, and very sore. I also have a swollen area behind the head just above the hair line, on the right side. Is throbbing. I m a little concern right now. Should I go see a doctor? Or is there anything else I can do to make it better. Thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are experiencing an allergic reaction to one or more of the ingredients in the dye. In some persons, the use of oral and topical antihistamine/steroids would be enough but if there is no improvement or worsening occurs then you may need oral steroids such as antihistamines are Benadryl, Zyrtec, Allegra, Claritin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
