How Can Allergic Rhinitis Caused By Inhaling Superglue Vapours Be Treated?

I think I have an allergy to superglue vapors. Severe coughing, warm terry eyes, and runny nose. It almost seems like I can *feel* the glue in my lungs, if that makes sense. I switched brands, hoping that it would be different, but it’s not. I don’t want to be sick for days. Last time, I tried deep breathing, Benadryl, lots of water. Nothing helped. Any suggestions?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The best way to avoid allergy is to avoid exposure to the substance precipitating the allergic reaction. In your case the super glue is the culprit and you can easily avoid exposure to super glue. In case of allergic reaction, you can try antihistamines like Pheniramine or which is highly effective in allergy. If fails oral steroids like Prednisolone (Wysolone) can be tried.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
