How Can Allergic Rashes On The Neck Be Treated?

I got poison ivy last weekend and a rash turned up on my neck on Tuesday - it s been continuing to spread since then. I went to dr on Saturday and they put me on prednisone - some areas look like they are starting to get better/light pink and less itchy. But additional random spots are popping up on different areas of my body and I have a significant amount on my right lower leg, in streaks and turning darker and darker - almost purple and still very itchy. Should I be concerned?

Hi, thanks for using Healthcare Magic.

I understand your concern.

Based on your complaint, the possibility of the cause is still quite a lot, can be due to dermatitis, fungal infections, pitiriasis rosea or psoriasis.
1. Dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin that can be caused by external factors including poison ivy (chemicals, sunlight, etc.) or from within (food).
2. Fungal infections (tinea cruris) -> complaints such as itching, redness, burning, sometimes acne-like injuries, or prominent wounds, skin thickening. In mushrooms, it is important to keep the itchy area moist by cleaning it clean, drying, and changing clothes when it is sweating. Then try to wear clothes that absorb sweat and avoid the use of towels or clothes with others.
3. Skin inflammation due to sweat (seborrhoeic dermatitis) -> A form of skin inflammation that causes itching in sweating areas of many, such as the head area, groin, or face. Usually caused by fungi (different types of fungi with fungal infections above), lack of vitamins, genetics, and hormonal.

Because of the similar kind of skin disorder, it requires direct examination by the doctor with detailed medical interviews and direct physical examination. If necessary, the doctor will also perform investigation (laboratory). For that, if the complaint is disturbing, visit the doctor for proper diagnosis and appropriate medical treatment.

Hope this helps, take care.
