our dog accidentally bite my finger while feeding her. i m just worried that i might gt the rabies. i have small scratch on my finger the blood just out when i pressed it. is it neccessary to have a vaccine? last December 2015 i undergone complete vaccination due to cat bite...is it necessary to get another vaccination? i am now on my breastfeeding with my child. i was bitten May 11,2017. Thank you
When it comes to dog bite, if you are not sure about the vaccination status of the dog and if you have any doubt about the health condition of the dog it is better to take a full course of rabies vaccination irrespective of your previous immunization status and irrespective of the fact that you are breast feeding or not. One should not take risk with rabies because once the person gets the disease there is no cure. Hence better to get vaccinated again. There is no harm to the child even if you are breast feeding. All rabies vaccines consist of inactivated virus so they pose no risk of transmission.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
