How Can A Burn Wound On The Fingers Be Treated?

My wife just burned her hand and fingers on a hot pan, currently running cool water over burn, just gave her some motrin, she has had the water running for about 15 minutes now, pain is subsiding but still very painful. Is there anything else we can do?

Hi,

Management of burn depends on the depth and severity of the burn. Generally, if the burn is superficial, it would heal itself but you need to keep it clean and apply topical antibiotics. Daily wash and topical antibiotics along with some painkiller are all that is needed.

Howe'ver if it's deep, then management may be more demanding. But most burns are not deep and don't need a lot. Its also imports to get a tetanus vaccination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
