How Can UTI Be Treated?

I think I have a UTI my concern is that i have little strands of what looks like dried blood coming out when I wipe myself after urination. The infection came on suddenly. Should i be concerned. I did ask my old doctor s nurse over the phone cause I am in a new location- he prescribed Levofloxacin 250 mg. But he did not talk to me or ask any questions. Is this serious? I have never had this before- I am female age 63

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your urinary tract infection.
Urinary tract infections are commen in women, mostly if it is associated with fever and burning sensation at the time of micturation (peeing).

If the blood is dried that means it is not from bladder or upper portion of the urinary tract otherwise it could have dissolved in urine.
As you didn't have any symptoms like bacterial or fungal infection associated like white discharge or fever etc that makes your concern genuine. As you said it is acute and not and not present since many days, you don't need to worry much but for your satisfaction you must need to get your lower abdomen scanned (USG) to get more clear diagnosis.

During mean time you must continue with the prescribed medication as it is better responsive to soft tissue infections.

Hope this is answer to your query, write to us in case of further clarifications.
