How Can I Manage Body Tremors, Sweating, Cold And Excessive Belching As A Heroine Addict For Years?

I have been a heroine addict for years. My last use was 24 hrs ago, maybe more like 17. I am having tremors, shakes, sweating and then cold, and lots of burping. I have some Subutex. I took 1 mg 12 hours ago and another 1mg an HR ago. It hasn t helped. I am afraid of taking more because of causing precipitated withdrawal. Am I not taking enough, or do I need to wait longer.

Hello,

You are experiencing the side effects of the drug you have been taking. These drugs affect the heat regulation process of the body causing instability & thus sweating and cold. Belching commonly occurs due to swallowing excess air, due to taking carbonated drinks, smoke, talking while eating, chewing gums, etc. You are advised to get connected to a detox center. get clinically examined by a GP.

Get required tests and investigations done to detect the cause of tremors, it can be drug induced Parkinson's disease or tremors due to developing neuropathy. Begin to taper off the drug intake and take help from a detox center detox it out of your system. You will get urgent medical care and support so that the withdrawal symptoms are controlled by giving conservative & symptomatic treatment immediately. You will be comfortable.

Avoid smoking, chew food nicely before eating, do not eat hastily. Avoid talking while eating. Do not take carbonated drinks. Never overeat. You can take antacids or PPIs if you are bloating, it will give you relief. Get clinically examined by a Neurologist, get Nerve conduction velocity test done along with required imaging tests so that treatment for tremor can be started at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
