How Can Hashimoto S Thyroiditis Be Treated?

HI I have hashimotos thyroid. Just before I started taking levothroxin 50 mcg manufactured by Mylan,I had this bright red burning itchy rash on my neck that covers more then half my neck. The endroconologist said it was not from my thyroid. But the hashimotos group I elong to have had this same issue. Since I have been on the thyroid med I now have itching hives. No relief from cortisone creams, nor anti histamine so.have been to a dermatologist, because I have had candida, he didn t look any further on my first appoin and assumed it was candida. Took a candida pill, relief. Had an anti fungus cream, no relief, antihistamines, no relief. Hives now all over my body. Burn and it. Nothing brings relief. Not sure what to do. Could it be my meds? My thyroid?

hi mam/sir,levothroxin might not be the cause of your hives.the incidence of dermatologic rash after taking levothyroxine is very low,of course cant be ruled out.please let me know the other medications you have been using if any.sometimes, allergic contact dermatitis also presents the same picture.so,just check if you have recently changed your soap or body lotion or detergent or fabric softeners.also review any food allergies.with the advise of endocrinologist, stop levothroxin and if you observe symptoms coming down,we can attribute it to levothroxine.another possibility is any polyendocrine disorders where in >1 autoimmune diseases might be present.i feel its better if you report the latest worsening of hives to endocrinologist.any other queries,i'm happy to attend.thank you.take care.bye.
