I have gone through your question and understand your concerns..
GERD can cause lot of troublesome symptoms both esophageal as well as extraesophageal.
I hope you have already consulted a gastrophysician before taking rabeprazole for such long duration.
It would have been helpful if i could know your body mass index.
Lifestyle modifications can very well help you in reducing symptoms. I would like to advice you
1) Avoid reflexogenic food items like fatty food, alcohol, spearmint, peppermint, tomato based food, tea and coffee.
2)Avoid acidic foods
3) Behavioral mofification to minimise heart burn like
a)weight reduction
b) nighttime heart burn will be benefited if you raise your head end of
the bed and avoid taking meals just before going to bed.
We should be aware that Vitamin B12 and iron absorption can be impared on chronic PPI therapy(rabeprazole)
I find this answer helpful
