High Fever, Cough, Gooey In Eyes. Possible Cause?

My mom is in memory care and has a temp of 102 coughing and gooey in her eyes. I went to her and put cool towel on her head and rubbed vicks on her. temp was down to 100.9 and she fell asleep. what causes the go in her eyes? I have a call into her Dr. And told the nurses to call me if her fever goes up again then i wiil take her to hospital by ambulance.

Thanks for the query..
It could have been a viral fever where red eyes can happen..
Cold sponging is good to reduce the temperature..
You can just give paracetemol for fever.
You can wait for 2 days and if there are any other symptoms like vomitings, diarrhea or stomach pain take her to the doctor immediately for better treatment..
