High Blood Pressure, Dizziness, Headache. Tests Show Elevated Sugar, Enlarged Heart. Reason?

I have had high blood pressure , 170 over 109, the last two weeks, also very dizzy and headaces. was given antiboiotic, two different kind, plus steriod shots and pills. ears are cleared now. But still high blood pressure and headaches. Had a ct scan , it was ok, ekg , chest x-ray and blood fasting test. test found that I have slightly elevated sugar. put on medicine. It is controlled. And found that I have an enlarged heart. I have been on four different blood pressure medicines since 1990. I went to Mayo Clnic for falling down for a year, I had the bad effects of the blood pressure I was taking, so they changed me to the meds I take now. Kind of curious if I might be having the same problem. Still light headed, headaches, high blood pressure.

Hello,
Thanks for your query.

Blood pressure of 170/109 is high that is the reason you are getting headache & light headed.

Restrict salt & sugar in your diet. Be physically active. Reduce weight if you are overweight. Do things which will give you happiness & will make you feel relaxed. This will help in bringing down your blood pressure & sugar levels.Take proper sleep at night. Take your medicines as prescribed by your doctor. Continue this for 1 month. If after doing all this if your Blood pressure & sugar levels are not in control than consult your doctor for changing the medicines.

Longstanding high blood pressure increases the size of heart as the heart has to overwork. People with hypertension also get elevated blood sugar, so take care of yourself.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Contrary to common belief, blood pressure is not the direct or usual cause of headache / dizziness!
The body's balancing mechanism is in the inner ear. An ENT (Ear Nose Throat) specialist is the one to see - they could evaluate the role of the ear.
If the ear is excluded, you have to be followed up by a neurologist. / MRA (MRI angiography) to delineate blood vessels (Carotid and Vertebral systems) may be needed....

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
