Having Type 1 Diabetes. Suffering From Toothache. Taking Antibiotics. Are These Two Related? Concerned?

I am Elaine Davis and have my granddaughter who lives with me permanently. her name is Shannon Davis and 9 years old with type 1 diabetes . Shannon at present is suffering from severe toothache due to a cracked tooth and also an infection under a crown on one of her other teeth. I took Shannon to the dentist wher she was given a filling in the cracked tooth and Antibiotics for the infection under the crown on other tooth. Ihave been giving her liquid paracetamole for the pain along with antibiotics. We are now on the third day since going to the dentist and yet Shannon seems to still be in a lot of pain which wakes her during the night. Shannon also had an operation two weeks ago to have her squint in left eye sorted . Her eye has healed up very well but at this present time is complaining if a sore head . Sugar levels abit up and down, several hypos dipping to 2and3 but also high sugars with a trace now and then of Ketones, Bloods and Ketones are tested by FreeStyle OptiumB strips .

Hello,
Since it is only two days since antibiotics and pain killers were started,I think you may wait for a couple of days more.
In the mean time, make sure that her sugar level are controlled properly as uncontrolled sugar levels may not let the infection clear easily.
If doesn't improve in next two days, you need to revisit your dentist again for re evaluation and may be change of antibiotic.
Thanks
