Having Knee Pain Lately, Especially When I Walk. I Play Rugby. Is It Due To My Knee Caps?

I have been experiencing a lot of knee pain lately, and I am wondering how likely it is to be due to the way my knee caps face. When I stand with my toes pointed forward my knee caps face inwards, I haven't paid much attention to this before so I am not sure if I have had this before but I have noticed it more now as my lower inner right knee is causing me a lot of pain, especially when I walk. I have noticed it hurt the most when my foot is planted and my knee and upper leg turns (in the motion of a quick change in direction), and when my leg is being walked on. When I run it hurts me minimally (until I change direction quickly), but when I stop running and just walk it causes the most pain. This has been posing a problem as I play rugby (a sport which involves running followed by walking during the game and quick movement changes) and as I said at first I am wondering how likely this pain is to be caused by the way my knees face.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The pain in your knee could be due to the mild rotation of the knee joint that you have described. It could also be related to a tear or injury to the internal structures of the knee. An MRI scan will help in the proper diagnosis.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
