Having Home Blood Pressure Tester. Fluctuation In Levels. Smoke Daily. Medication?

my friend has a at home Blood pressure tester, it's new. I tested my BP. it seemed high, as usually its 138/75. All my life I've had 120/70. So yesterday I tested it 5 times. 7am/120/76, 9am 136/72, 5pm after 2 hours of grocery shopping and trips carrying the groceries into the house, after 30 min. I tested it was156/75. Then at 7pm 142/75 and 9:40pm 141/62. I know I need to lose 25 pounds, I started a diet, I have today eliminated sale, and I will start exercises daily, tomorrow. I smoke, 5-7 cigs daily and bought a e-cig to stop. Should I see a Doctor for pills, I take no pills and always healthy, I have no medical insurance, no Part B, can't afford it. I am 68.

Dear sir,
Thanks for writing to us.
1. Stop smoking.
2. Loose weight.
3. The BP fluctuates normally with our level of physical and mental activity. hence variations are normal. But if the readings are frequently more than 140/90 mm Hg (when taken in relaxed state, no smoking/ tea/ coffee or exertion in least one hour), You must see your physician. Take readings for at least 2-3 weeks. If you develop any symptoms or any reading is > 160/100 do see your physician.
Sincerely
I find this answer helpful
