Have Swollen Legs And Ankles After Long Time Of Sitting. Taking Warfarin Medication. What To Do?
Hi Dr Herrick I am on holiday and took a 2.5 hr flight after a 1 hour drive then another 1 hr drive to the hotel so a total of approx 5 hrs sitting. I am on warfarin medication following a pulmonary embolism 9 months ago. However i noticed that several hours after arriving my lower legs and ankles swelled considerably and took all night laying down to come back to normal should I be concerned?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The swelling in your ankles is likely to be due to prolonged sitting during the travel. If the swelling has subsided after the rest then there is nothing to worry. This is not related to pulmonary embolism. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
