Have Swollen Gums, Mouth Corners, Tissue Thickening, Bumps On Lips, Headache. CT Scan, Sinus Irritation. What Is It?

I've been suffering with swollen, bulging gums, pain in mouth for close to a year. most recently the tissue in the corners of my mouth running towards my nose are very visibly swollen. The tissue seems to be thickening and I also have many little bumps in upper and lower lips. I've seen many dentists and doctors without any results. I'm concerned that it could be oral cancer but the doctors I've seen don't think that's the case. I had a ct scan which should minor irritation of the sinuses. I've also been suffering from severe headaches or migraines and it all seems to be progressively worse. Does anybody have suggestions as to what might be the problem?

Hello there ,

Thanks for writing your query,

After reading your clinical history and your symptoms i suspect you have developed severe inflammation of the oral mucosa or mucositis.

It may be caused due to several reasons like deficiency or certain vitamins especially vitamin B12 and vitamin C.

Maintain good oral hygiene by practicing regular mouth rinsing with lukewarm saline water or antiseptic mouthwash like betadine or chlorhexidine.

start with multivitamin supplements for 7 to 10 days and vitamin C lozenges will help in resolving the problem.

avoid alcohol , carbonated drinks , tobacco chewing and smoking as these may worsen the area affected.

For other medical problems , migraine and sinus irritation you may need to consult a physician and get the evaluation done.

i hope this helps ,

take care.

Hello,
Swollen gums could be due to several reasons like poor oral hygiene, Vitamin C deficiency, Leukemia, Drugs like Phenytoin. Scaling and polishing of teeth should be done atleast once in 6 months. Consult a Periodontist to identify the problem of your gums and obtain treatment. Flap surgery of your gums may be required depending if you have pocket formation and bone loss.
Headache could be due to Sinusitis which should be consulted with an ENT specialist. Take Steam inhalation 3-4 times a day for relief.

Regards
