Have Sickle Cell Disease, Addicted To Alcohol, Poor Appetite, Hemoglobin Less, Have Erectile Dysfunction. Cure?
Hello Doctors name Alex I am a known sickler (have sickle cell disease) I however been able to grow upto to 40 years and last had a major attack in 1999. I have been using alchoal for the last 10 years, have very poor appetite and was recently told my hemoglobin level was below the normal level at level 4 instead of 7 and above. I now have erectile dysfunction and am very scared I might never have a child. Am currently in India and would like to seek medical help please advise me
thank you for your query. if your hemoglobin is 4mg/dL, it should be a cause for concern. Moreover, since you also have Sickle cell disease it may be the beginning of a new attack. moreover, drinking for last 10 years also adds to the risk. I would suggest you to urgently visit a hematologist or an Internal Medicine specialist for proper treatment of your condition. Unless your primary condition is treated, it is difficult to diagnose or treat for erectile dysfunction. i would like to bring to your notice that erection is caused by inflow of blood into the cavernous vein inside the penis shaft. Also, the standard drugs used for erectile dysfunction like sildenafil etc. has to be used with severe caution. hope i've been able to answer your query. please feel free to contact me for any further clarifications. best of luck.
