Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

The typical symptoms in your description suggests that you have TRIGGER FINGER with typical locking and releasing episodes.

This is generally due to the thickening of the synovial sheath around the tendon which prevents free gliding of the tendon. At times this thickening forms a nodule also.

This condition responds well to a steroid injection given into the sheath of the tendon.

Refractory cases not responding to conservative measures may need a surgical release.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day

General & Family Physician Dr. Veera Raghava Rao Buddha.'s  Response
Hi, it could be due to the arthritis, or a nerve related stiffness of the muscles of the finger. I advise you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment.
I to my patient with such symptoms prescribe neurotropic injections for 5 consecutive days, muscle relaxant analgesics, for recovery.
thank you.
