Hi Matthew,
Welcome and thanks for posting your query to HCM.
There are two of the possibilities of your problem:
1. Sebaceous cysts: Appears due to a blockage in a sebaceous gland(produce oil in the skin).
2. Lipoma:A simple fatty tissue growth beneath the skin. It is painless, soft, movable lump.
There is more of the possibility of the first one as you gave a history of touching the lesion again and again so might be possibility of infection leading to increase in size. Lipoma takes months of time to be enlarged . Even then the most important suggestion is that any swelling on head of any kind, whether small or large should not be ignored. You should meet a surgeon who can give the best diagnosis and treat the condition by either antibiotics if needed or simple excision of the lesion. Hope to have given you the best of the information.
With best health wishes,
