Have Cholesterol Level Of 5.8. Have A Busy Lifestyle. Matter Of Concern?

Hi I am 45 years and have a cholesterol level of 5.8. I am not overweight . I weigh 55kg and am 166cm. I do not exercise but I have a very busy lifestyle with 4 children and a fulltime job. Some of my siblings are on tablets to reduce their cholesterol levels. My question is if i should be worried aboyt my cholesterol level

Welcome to health care magic ,
your cholesterol level is higher side ,
at present i would like to advice life style modification ,
try following things , try for next 3 to 6 months and repeat cholesterol test again and if still high then take medicine
- Take good quantity of fresh fruits, fresh green leafy vegetables
- Take whole grain food like brown bread, brown rice, whole wheat, oatmeal, popcorn, sea food like sea fish salmon, tuna, sardine, meat like chicken without skin, lean poultry etc.
- Avoid saturated food item like fried food, ghee, butter, red meat, organ meat like liver, kidney and sea food like prawns, crabs, egg yellow if you are non vegetarian.
- avoid bakery items, fried food, sweets, and ice cream.
- Take low fat dairy foods like skimmed milk, low fat yogurt, and low fat cheese.

hello and welcome to HCM
from your height and weight your BMI comes out to be 20 that is normal. i would like to know if you have any previous medical, surgical or drug history? also please tell me if you have family history of any disease. and if the levels that you mentioned were fasting levels or not. you should get your cholesterol levels within normal range as hypercholesterolemia is associated with many diseases as a risk factor. first thing you should do is to avoid fat rich diet and start exercise.(you can walk to work or park your car at a distance and walk to work from there)
