Hard Bump On The End Of Tailbone, Painful While Sitting, Lower Back Pain. Suggestions?
i have a hard bump on the very end of my tailbone, it hurts if i sit on it or apply a good amount of pressure on it but it isn t tendor and i cant move it or anything like that, i feel like it only shows up when i sit on it. Sometimes i have lower back pain near the bump if that helps but it really shows up if i dont sit up right, as if its swollen. any ideas?
It could be a pilonidal cyst or abscess. However , it would be best if you visited your doctor for an exact diagnosis.
In the meantime, you can apply some hot fomentation/ heat application to the area.
Is it the first time this has happened?
Maintain good posture. Sleep well. If you are lying on your back, keep a pillow under your knees. If you normally lie on your side, sleep with your hips and knees flexed and place a pillow between the thighs and knees.
Preferably dont sit on hard surfaces for long duration.
Keep the area clean and dry.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan.
