Had Heart Failure, Have Anxiety. Had Holter Monitor, EKG, Echo Done. What Is Wrong?

Hi I am a 51 year old female....i just recently started having heart problems....I noticed palpitations so I made an appointment with a cardiologist...I was told by the EKG I had heart failure then I had halter monitor and Echo done and the Echo was abnormal so I am scheduled for a heart cath tomorrow....my doctor already informed me that the echo showed a EF of only 25%...I am wondering is there anything I can do to raise my EF and how do you go into heart failure over night? a few weeks before all of this I was being active and feeling alright and then boom I'm told heart failure....I'm a little bit confused and scared I have been having anxiety ever since and that was in Aug

Hi,
You are in the process of further investigations so it would be premature to make any diagnoses at this point. There is nothing you can do to raise your EF. This will be treated medically as appropriately according to the results of the investigations. You may not have gone into heart failure overnight. It may have developed slowly over a period of time and you have not noticed the small changes occurring in your health.
Once you have been fully investigated, the doctors will know what is causing the heart failure and will be able to start the correct treatment.
