Had A Trimalleolar Fracture, Burning Sensation In Foot And Ankle, Tingling Sensation, Purple And Red Blotches. What Is It?

Hi,
I had a trimalleaolar fracture along with a non displaced talus fracture ten weeks ago. The first four weeks I had intense burning pain on the outside edge of the foot from the pinky toe to the ankle bone, as well as on the heel. The heel is numb is certain spots as is a few spots on the edge of the foot. After the four weeks the burning pain went away and I had some tingling electric shock type pain that also went away. The issue is as soon as I put my foot down it turns purple or blotchy red, return it to elevated position and in seconds it goes back to normal. At the nine week mark the orthopedic asked me to start putting 50-75lbs on the foot and since doing that the nerve like pain started coming back. Not quite as intense. I'm going to be checked for rsd next week but I was hoping it may be a damaged nerve or tarsal tunnel because if I do the tinel test I can feel the immediate sensation. Any hopeful possibilities other than rsd? Many thanks for your help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

The symptoms can be attributed to compression of nerve as well as blood vessel.
Kindly consult a Neurologist for a complete clinical examination including nerve conduction tests.
Ultrasonography with color doppler study will be helpful in detecting the cause of vascular compromise.
Nervigenic agents like Vit B6, Vit B12 & Folic acid as well as Physiotherapy exercises will be helpful.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care
