Overall his status is highly risky. I suggest the following :
1. Consult the primary cardiologist , who stented him, regarding the high BP, after stenting , it should be around 110/70 mm of Hg, whatever measure you do to control it. He must be put on some
ACE inhibitor drug first to control his BP, as it would help his damaged heart for remodelling too, provided he is not an asthmatic, other choose one drug from the ARB group.
2. Is he taking antiplatelets, statins and beta-blockers regularly??. Aspirin,
Clopidogrel, atrorvastatin and
propranolol are examples of these medications for him for regular use lifelong, because he is a
heart attack survivor.
3. Get his
lipid profile, base kidney function, liver function, ECHO, ECG and if possible TMT test done, to review his status atleast once per year.
4. If his TMT get positive anytime, he should perhaps think about the
heart bypass surgery option to revascularize his heart, because this is more viable option for him at this status of post stenting, if the heart surgeon finds him fit.
5. Last but not the least, Diet and excercise. I would suggest a vegetarian diet if not vegan. He can take some essential omega 3 fatty acid pills in addition to the routine
multivitamin pills, to suppliment his nutritional status. Exercise is very important, 5-8 km walk daily would be enough, if his BMI is in the normal range, but answer to exercise lies more with the cardiologist who works up his current health status.
