HIV Test Results Negative, Index Value Changing. Advise?

hello doctor i have undergone hiv test after 3 weeks of exposure result was negetive with index value of 14 then i have read on internet that 6 weeks after exposure will give correct picture then again i got tested after 6 weeks result was again negetive but index value was 18 that time , some one told me that test after 3 months of exposure will give correct picture, I then again got tested my self after 3 months and result was again negetive but index value this time was 24,pls help are the reports are o.k

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
You need not worry about the index value.
The ultimate result has importance.
Each test has certain cut off value as labeled by the manufacturer of the test kit.
Anything below the cut off value is considered as negative only. The index value has no value or message.
If your HIV result is negative after 3 months it is more conclusive and you need not repeat the same any more.
You are free from HIV infection.
Protected sex is always safe and it avoids unnecessary tension.
