Foul Smell From Nose On Breathing. Taking Flucosinate. CT Scan Of Nose Normal. Cure?

For the past nine months I have had a bad odor coming from my nose when I breathe out. My wife says it smells like sour milk and mildew mixed. I have been to the ENT and was put on antibiotics and that didn t help. He then had me do a CT scan on my nose and it came back negative for any infections/problems. He suggested that I get my tonsils out but the smell is only from my nose and not my mouth/throat. When I take flucosinate(generic for Flonase ) the smell subside a little bit, but only for a short time and doesn t go away completely. Please help.

Hello and welcome,

Thanks for your query.

I understand your frustration, and shall try to put forward another possibility.

Halitosis: is bad odor or breath which is exhaled during breathing.

This bad odor can come from:
-Mouth
-Nose
-Gums
-Tongue
-Esophagus
-Stomach

Let me not go into the details of other parts and stick to the nose, which is what you want to know.

The most common causes of this exhaling nose odor could be:
-Sinus infections
-Foreign body

Diagnosis: Halimeter or gas chromatography

Please discuss the possibility of a foreign object in your nose that could be causing this or request you doctor to look into other possible cause.

I hope I have succeeded in answering your questions, you could write back to us anytime for further clarifications.

Best wishes.
