Fell And Twisted Ankle. Have Popping In The Joints. Pains To Stand. Using Crutches. Remedy?
Hi, I am a 24 year old female. I twisted my ankle on Wednesday.i felt my ankle turn out wards and I heard a noise when I fell. I have rice for the last 3 days and some of the swelling has gone down. I have had some poping in the joint over the last few days but none today. Today I have been trying to bear weight on my ankle. When I stand I feel pins and needles run up the outside of my leg. I am using crutches to assist me walking. Am I doing the right thing ?
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM. It looks like that you might have injured the Ligaments around the ankle. Initial management is RICE (which you already did) but i feel that you need an xray to rule out any bony injury and an MRI scan to see for any serious ligamentous damage. Consult an orthopedic surgeon and follow his advice accordingly. Hope this helps
