Done Surgery For Broken Humerus. Replaced Screws, Used Bone Graft And Wires. Why Were Screws Loose?

I had surgery of broken humerus, back in dec they put a plate and screws last month after a cat scan they told me I have nonunion,and I need a second operation,today is a week from my second operation they show me my x-ray they say everything is okay and last operation 2 screw were loose,and they replace every single one they use bone graft and wires you think is okay and why in the first operation the srews were loose thank you Bridgette

Thank you for choosing HCM.In your first operation as your doctors mentioned you about the screws there may be various caused for that.Someof them are:
-stress to the bone
-improper fixation
-lack of proper rest
-osteoporotic bone
The cause in you may be due to weak bone as they had a bone graft for you.And may also be any of the above.Thank you.

Thanks for your query. The procedure you have done is correct. The nature has given the bones power to reunite them if they are exactly approximate each other. The aim of screws is to keep the bone ends approximate to each other. With the passage of time callus formation occurs and bone unite.
Screw may become loose due to the movement or if they have not been properly tightened.
I am sure with the passage of time a complete reunion of bone will occur.
