Does The Test Results Pose A Risk To The Baby?

I am 11th weeks pregnant and this is my 2nd issue. The 1st was an ectopic, 1 year back. I am 31 years, 48.5 kg, 154cm,pre-pregnancy diabetic. Before I was on metformin and now only on insulin. 1 month back I did all necessary tests and all were normal. Today I repeat those and find- all WBC levels minorly raised, ESR 42, 10-14 pus cell in urine R/E. What these indicates? What should i do next? Is it risky to my baby? Please give me proper advice. With thanks.

Hi,
I understand your concern.
- The raised WBC count suggests some infection in body. You have already done urine test-which shows pus cells in it. So probably it's urine infection. Urine infection should be controlled as early as possible, for otherwise it may involve kidney , to complicate the pregnancy/ low birth weight of baby/premature delivery/ toxemia of pregnancy-which is risky for mother& baby both.
** Every thing above can be prevented by early diagnosis & treatment of urine infection. So you should-
- Be sure that diabetes is well controlled( by diet & medication, exercises)
- Get urine culture & sensitivity done & start the specific treatment as per your treating doctors advise.Get a through medical check up to exclude infection in any other part of body.
- Regular pregnancy check up & investigations as per doctors advise.Strictly follow the instructions given about rest/diet/exercise.
Thanks.
