Does The Flu Vaccination Help Us Against H1N1?

hello! I had a flu shot at my local Walgreens several weeks ago. Yesterday a friend was visiting and related a medical issue she had while visiting family in Atlanta over the holidays. She was taken to Piedmont Hospital and in the course of examining her the doctors said she had the flu....the H1N1 strain. She was surprised because she had a flu shot at Walgreens in October. She was told that the Flulaval Quadrivalent does not include protection for the H1N1 strain. My husband and I are older people with minor health issues, but were alarmed to learn that for this...the worst of the viruses... we are not protected, if her information is correct. My question...is it true that we are not protected by our flu shots from H1N1? Thank you for your answer and for this service!!!

yes it is exactly correct what she has said . the flu vaccination use have undergone would not protect you from the swine flu virus which is also called as H1N1. so it is better to get vaccinated for the same if there is threat of the infection with the same .
