Does Taking Antipsychotics Stop Hallucination Of Hearing Voices?

my 19 yr old son has just experienced a psychosis after smoking from a bong 2 days a week for 6 weeks. He has a mild intellectual disability. about 5 poppers each day equaling 1.5g over 2 days. He is hearing voices. The hospital gave him antipsychotics. does this mean that once the marijuana is out of his system the voices can go away. and if he stays away from marijuana may never come back?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Hallucination is part of psychosis and the therapy of psychosis will definitely control the voices hearing over a period of time.

For the better recovery he must adhere to the drug dosage schedules and avoid further intake of bong smoking.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
