Does Taking Postinor 2 Twice A Week Cause Any Side Effects?
I took postinor 2 twice a week, like the complete dose twice two days apart in a week. Does that have any effect? Now my period is two days late plus there was a brown spotting this evening. P. S i took these pills immediately after sex and 12hrs after for the two occasions. Please what could be wrong?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for asking. Postinor 2 is an immergency contraceptive with high dose of hormones. You have taken a double dose in a weeks period... that is not indicated... The spotting &red spotting is a sign of drug is no more in your system. You had taken the pills in time.. thus ensuring contraception. Your routine period would be irregular/delayed bacause of the hormonal imbsalance caused by the large dose&it may take a couple of months to get normalised. Now you have to wait patiently for normal periods . In case of some other problem (profuse bleeding,no bleeding) see a gynecologist. Thanks.
