Does Swollen Inner Labia During Pregnancy Need Medical Attention??

Hi I am pregnant in week 17. I am suffering from a pain in my left inner labia which is swollen. Should I go to my medical dr? would that harm my baby? could that be due to any vaginal infection? however I do not have any bad smelling vaginal discharge.

Hi,

It looks like u have a swelling called Bartholin's cyst in the left labia.
You wil require antibiotics for it, these are relatively safe in mid trimester of pregnancy(i.e., between 13 to 28 weeks ) and will not harm the baby .
It is necessary you take antibiotics as the infection and swelling may increase causing more pain and if treatment delayed you may require to remove the cyst ,which would not be a good option in pregnancy.
So , would advise you to see a doctor who could prescribe you the required antibiotics.
This is a recurrent problem, and if recurs you may have to go for removal/excision.

Bartholins cyst infection as such will not harm th ebaby. But it is extremely painful for the mother.
