Does Smoking Cause Emphysema?
ok I have a question my family member smokes pot and just found out he has emphysema he is 37 years old. His sister smokes cigarettes, and step father also smokes cigarettes. How likely is he to have this disease because of his habit and being around his family even if they go outside to smoke the cigarettes?

Smoking definitely causes emphysema and it is one of the most common cause for emphysema. Passive smoking for long duration can also cause emphysema and other lung condition like COPD. It doesn’t matter whether he smokes from outside or not, the smoke remains in his lung and and it is exhaled and passively enters others in the family and this what is called passive smoking or second hand smoking.
