Does Sleep Apnea Cause Low WBC Count?

I have just been diagnosed with sleep apnea, getting -0- minutes of sleep out of 8 hours in Stage 3 or Stage 4 and only 22 mins of REM sleep out of the same time period. I also just got a low WBC. I know the immune system is replinished and helped in either Stage 3 or 4 (some reports say the two stages are now combined). Could the sleep apnea be the culprit in part? I will have been on the CPap for a week tonight.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

While there may be many complications with sleep apnea, but low WBC is not associated with sleep apnea.

I would suggest you should repeat the counts after few as and if still was low, then you should seek proper medical advice.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
