Does Recovery After A Shoulder Replacement Surgery During Old Age Take Long?
My mother tells me she is having shoulder replacement surgery due to arthritis and pain In her shoulder. She is 83 years old, small frail lady (100 pounds) with osteoporosis. Is someone like this a good candidate? She has an 89 year old husband in poor health who she does a lot for. She seems to think she ll be back to normal activities in a few weeks but after reading the article here, she does not sound like a good candidate. What is realistic recovery for someone like this? Otherwise she still drives and perform light chores around the house, but not by any means is she active. She mainly sits. Thank you.
Based on the history you have shared, usually these surgeroare meant for elderly people but the condition you have mentioned is not very favourable for this surgery and can be associated with high rate of complications. as her symptoms are controlled with medications she should continue with this.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing her a speedy recovery.
