Does Pinched Nerve Of Jaw Cause Face Numbness And Partially Shut Eyelid?

I believe I pinched a nerve in my jaw. What worries me is that the right side of my face feels numb. Like I had a shot of novicaine and it hasn't worn off yet. My smile is lopsided and my eyelid doesn't seem to shut all the way. Is that normal for a pinched nerve?

Brief Answer: BELL'S PALSY.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms you definitely have a pinched nerve or a traumatized nerve and the symptoms reveals that there is trauma or infection of the FACIAL NERVE which is Seventh Cranial Nerve and supplies muscles of face and injury to this nerve can lead to numbness, muscular weakness, shifting of the chin to unaffected side, and difficulty in closing the eyelid..
There can also be drooling of saliva, dry eye or eye can drain continuously.
You need to consult a Neurophysician and get evaluated and get a MRI SCAN done to rule out the exact cause of the nerve palsy and get treated accordingly..
Commonly the symptoms starts to subside in 3 to 4 weeks even without treatment but in case if they do not subside then the duration of resolution is uncertain and depends on nerve recovery..
In the initial phase Steroids are given that is within the first three days of appearance of symptoms which helps in faster recovery..
Do warm packs over the affected side..
Take a multivitamin daily..
Physiotherapy is also helpful which can be demonstrated by a physician and has to be performed daily 3 to 4 times a day..

You need to consult a Neurophysician soon and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
