Does Persistent Dry Cough Indicate TB?

Hi! I just had a chest x-ray for my pre-employment but I was recommended to have an apicolordotic x-ray. I ve read some online with same cases and i m afraid that I might have TB since I have dry cough. I supposed to have my apicolordotic x-ray scheduled next week, I just hope I would come as clear.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,
Following are the cause of persistent dry cough:
1. Smoking
2. Asthma
3.Allergic rhinitis
4. Stress
5. Heart problem
6. Sinus problem
7. Tuberculosis
8. Whooping cough
9. Rare: lung cancer

Tuberculosis in early stage may present with dry cough.
But symptoms like mild evening rise fever, chills, night sweats, loss of appetite and weight, fatigue associated with it.

But in the absence of above symptoms Tuberculosis is unlikely.
But you should go for chest xray as early as possible to rule out tuberculosis and other causes.
Also do test for sputum microscopy: that is very specific for Tuberculosis

Take steam inhalation with tincture benzoin
Stay hydrated by drink plenty of water (luke warm water)

Hope this may help you.
Wish you all the best for good health

Best regards
Dr. Sagar
