Does My Child Need Tetanus Injection After A Cut On Thumb?

My daughter got a bad cut on her left thumb and lost some finger nail at school this afternoon when she was doing project. A teacher cleaned the wound and wrapped it very well. She told me to see a doctor because she worried of getting infection of tetanus. We went to a walking clinic medical office and the doctor gave her some Fucidin Ointment on the thumb than wrap it again. My daughter fell pain of her hand after that. She is twelve years old now( the doctor ask about her age at clinic and told us every baby has tetanus vaccine). May I ask, does she need a injection or it is ok?

Hello. Thank you for your question.
Tetanus vaccine is received as part of the regular schedule of childhood vaccines. As long as your daughter is up to date with her immunizations, she does not need an additional tetanus vaccine.
